Mailplane invites

Friday, September 14, 2007

I recently tried out the beta version of Mac OS X app, Mailplane, which allows you to “bring Gmail to your Mac Desktop”. I’ve spent the last couple of days trying out Mailplane and have become increasingly impressed with the product. I got an email this morning telling me I have 5 invites to send to some chums, so if your interested then I suggest you get in quick. The app has some impressive features that really make using it fun and easy.

One of the most notable features for me has to be the drag and drop email attachments. You can drag icons from finder straight into your email, without having to worry about clicking the browse button and having to filter through all the guff in your folders trying to find what your looking for. This has made things surprisingly easy, especially when your constantly sending files to clients.

Another feature that which is pretty groovy is a screengrab tool. You can grab screenshots on the fly and they are automatically attached to your email while your composing your messages. This has made things so much quicker then going through the usual route when trying to send people quick screenshots of maybe works in progress or cross platform problems you may be come across.

Mailplane also offers you the chance to start writing emails, deleting emails, staring emails and even archiving emails much easier with a number of icons at the top, which are much easier to use then the smaller links and buttons offered in the Gmail user interface. Mailplan makes it much more like using mail really. The built in iMedia feature also makes browsing your photos, movies and music folders easier and quicker and also allows you to quickly just drag and drop them straight into your email and automatically attach them.

So now you know some of the cool features on offer, if you have a Mac and use Gmail a log, then give me a shout and I will hook you up.
